To truly understand how great Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was, you have to look at the men who have poorly tried to fill his shoes as civil rights leaders: Jesse Jackson, Rev. Al Sharpton, and Louis Farrakhan. Race relations are never easy and take time. No one can force dramatic changes over night.
I don’t expect revolution from American leaders, but Mr. Jackson, Rev. Sharpton, and Louis Farrakhan have managed over and over again to make situations worse. They’re easy targets for racists because they’re idiots compared to Dr. King. Dr. King may have been far from perfect (especially his re-distribution of wealth idea, socialist views, and adultery), but he consistently made situations better which few people do.
I don’t know what Dr. King would have done differently. I don’t know how he would judge the current state of the country. I do know however what kind of impact he made and how he did it. I do know what his stated dream was. I leave it for you to judge for yourself.
