Lauren Silberman is a Disgrace
Lauren Silberman, the owner and founder of Double Play Media, trolled the internet and national media by paying the $275 tryout fee for an NFL regional combine. She showed up and kicked two short kickoffs of 19 yards and 13 yards while claiming a right quadriceps injury.
She showed up wearing 13 year old Adidas Predator Precision cleats (Released in the year 2000. I would know. I owned a pair.). How seriously was she actually training if she’s wearing 13 year old cleats? Clearly, as MIT graduate school dropout who owns an internet media company, she could likely afford a new pair of cleats.
She set back the perception of women in sports by her completely selfish actions. There’s 12 year old girls who can kick a ball farther than 19 yards. Oh look, here’s a 12 year old girl nailing a 35 yard field goal Ms. Silberman at 28 years old has had plenty of time to play football but after all these years, she only has experience playing club soccer at the University of Wisconsin.
This is likely a publicity stunt for her media company whose stated purpose is to troll the internet to increase web traffic and sales for her clients. I’m serious….
It is no secret that online advertising is not only the most cost effective way to increase sales and drive traffic to your website, but also an essential element of every company’s overall marketing strategy.
I hope it was worth it, Ms. Silberman. I’m sure it felt good to see your name on ESPN, Huffington Post, New York Post, etc. I just hope you know that there are plenty of internet savvy people out there who will never use your company for anything considering how low you would go to drudge up publicity. I’m sure real female athletes everywhere are thankful for your contribution (sarcasm).
